Laura and Mike’s first date was on a rainy Thursday in December, and Laura forgot her umbrella. Mike, bring the “trusty boy scout he is,” brought an exceptionally large umbrella for them both. They gazed at the Christmas lights in Copley Square and went to Lolita’s Tequila Bar… where they waited two hours for a table. Luckily, Mike brought cookies he made himself so that Laura wouldn’t die of starvation or get too hangry. He cleverly brought them in Tupperware so Laura would have to return it to him on their next date – and the rest, was history.
They moved in together, which is where Mike proposed on their 3 year anniversary with a box of Christmas cards that said “Surprise, Christmas came a little early… We’re Engaged! Merry Christmas! Love, Laura, Mike & Cider.” Needless to say, Laura was shocked. And then after the excitement, they realized how hungry they were… and took a trip to Lolita’s.
On a beautiful June day, they got married at Hammond Castle. Built in the 1920’s in Gloucester, MA, this museum by day and wedding venue by night was a European castle plucked from across the Atlantic and dropped right on the North Shore. Guests entered via drawbridge with a red carpet and were greeted by a knight in shining armor, in true medieval fashion. They had an outdoor ceremony behind the castle overlooking the ocean, where Cider the pup walked down the aisle with a leash that said “I do too.” They ended the night with a romantic candlelit dinner reception, stealing kisses and dancing under the moonlight. Cheers to forever, Laura + Mike!
